About the Episode:
In today’s episode, we’re talking to Darren Murph, the Guinness World Record Holder for the title of world’s most prolific blogger (yes, really), having authored over 17,212 individual blog posts during his 7-year tenure working for the tech publication Engadget here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Darren landed his job as a staff writer for Engadget shortly after graduating from college in 2006, get this, from applying online. A few months after submitting his application, he got a callback, went through the interview process, landed the gig, and packed his bags for California.

Since leaving Engadget, Darren’s gone on to teach writing & blogging classes at CreativeLive—where we originally met—and he’s a published author of the book, Living the Remote Dream: A Guide To Seeing the World, Setting Records, and Advancing Your Career.

Hi Ryan,
Is there a transcript for this podcast?
Thanks,
Shoot, I don’t have one but I’ll look into firing up a transcript tool I recently found 😊
Hello Ryan,I have been wanting to start a blog since a few mths but just not getting on to it. I do some content writing for my Start up for moms. I’m interested in Career Counselling. Am fond of reading and old Hindi songs. So,how do I start and what area would benefit me with my Ltd time available? Pl advice….
Darren’s really good. 17,212 blog entries, it’s just incomprehensible. I like that he talks about tolerance as the main characteristic of a good writer. He is right in this, especially if you look at his experience in this field, he probably needed a good bubble of patience to write so many thousands of words.
I am very happy for Darren and for his success, as for me, it is great news that he continued to teach writing and blogging skills in CreativeLive, I am sure that he has something to teach us all.
I love this one! What a great interview. I especially liked the bit about first writing whatever section of a post feels most inspiring to you. I definitely do that! Sometimes it’s the intro, sometimes it’s the middle.
YES! I resonated with this so much too 🙏🏼
